Ashmita Mohan

Counsellor

6 Year of Experience

Hi there, and thank you for being here. Reaching a page like this often takes more strength than people realise, and I want to first acknowledge the courage it takes to even consider support for yourself or a loved one. :) I am a Counselling Psychologist who works with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship patterns, identity questions, and the emotional challenges that come with being human today. Over the years, I have realised that people do not seek therapy because they are broken. They seek therapy because they have been trying to carry too much on their own. My role is to offer a space where you can finally set things down, your fears, worries, confusion, memories, and overwhelm, and feel met with warmth, steadiness, and genuine understanding.

Therapeutic Approach – My therapeutic approach is grounded, gentle, and collaborative. I do not believe in forcing insight or pushing someone into change before they are ready. I support you in reconnecting with your own clarity and inner strength. I draw from trauma-focused therapies, humanistic and emotion-centered approaches, and mind–body awareness. What this means is that together, we explore what you are feeling, why those feelings make sense, and how your body has learned to hold your experiences. Therapy is not about giving you a list of things to fix. It is about helping you understand yourself in a deeper and kinder way so that healing becomes possible from within. I believe therapy is one of the few places where people can be completely human, with all their uncertainty, hope, confusion, pain, and growth. I have seen how powerful it is for someone to feel understood without judgment, often for the first time in their lives. My intention is to create a space where your experiences are respected, your emotions are welcomed, and your story is held with care.
Credentials & What Drives Me – I hold a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Trauma-Focused Therapy, and have extensive experience in both school and community mental health settings. I have supported adolescents through academic pressure, identity concerns, grief, self-worth difficulties, and relational challenges. I have also worked with adults experiencing burnout, perfectionism, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship issues, and major life transitions such as career changes or significant personal shifts. My background includes work with neurodivergent individuals, survivors of trauma, and clients facing high-risk or safety-related concerns. These experiences have shaped me into a therapist and a person who values attunement, cultural sensitivity, emotional safety, and more than anything, authenticity. What drew me to this work is personal. Through my own early childhood experiences, I witnessed how much it matters to have someone who is present, consistent, and emotionally available. I learned very early how deeply support can affect a person’s inner world, and how the absence of it can leave long-lasting marks. This understanding stayed with me and guides how I show up with clients. I aim to offer the kind of presence that helps people feel seen, understood, and supported in ways they may not have experienced before.
Take the First Step – If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or ready to understand yourself more clearly, I am here to support you. When you feel ready, I warmly invite you to book a session.

What clients can expect

My professional experience allows me to meet clients with both clinical depth and genuine human warmth. Over the years, I’ve learned that healing is not about fixing what is “wrong,” but about understanding patterns with compassion and creating new, safer emotional experiences. I help clients make sense of their inner world, strengthen emotional regulation, build healthier relationship patterns, and reconnect with their sense of self. Through a trauma-informed and collaborative approach, I support clients in moving from survival to stability, and from stability toward growth, confidence, and meaningful change.
Academic & Clinical Foundation : I hold an M.Sc. in Counselling Psychology from Christ University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Trauma-Focused Therapy from TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences). My training has provided me with a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, along with specialised skills in working with trauma, attachment wounds, and emotional difficulties. I support individuals navigating relationship concerns, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions, and I bring a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental presence to the therapeutic space, prioritising safety, collaboration, and authentic healing.
Assessment & Therapeutic Experience : I bring over 7 years of counselling experience, during which I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals through trauma, relationship struggles, self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. I strive to create a space where you feel deeply heard, accepted, and supported, trusting that when safety, presence, and empathy are steady, meaningful change unfolds naturally.
Multidisciplinary & Rehabilitation Work : My specialised practice areas include trauma and attachment wounds, systemic and relational patterns within families and partnerships, identity exploration, and major life transitions. I work with how early experiences, culture, and family systems shape present emotional responses and relationship dynamics. Integrating EFT with elements of IFS, expressive arts, and body-based work, I support clients in understanding protective patterns, processing unresolved emotional pain, and building more secure, grounded ways of relating to themselves and others.
Current Counselling: I am currently practicing as a counselling psychologist, working with adolescents and adults across concerns such as trauma, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and life transitions. In my work, I hold space for clients navigating both developmental challenges and deeper attachment wounds, with a focus on creating a safe, attuned, and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

How My Experience Guides You

I believe that many of the ways we cope today are shaped by what we’ve had to carry in the past. In our work together, we can gently begin to understand those patterns with compassion rather than judgment. We would move at a pace that feels safe for you, paying attention to what feels overwhelming and what feels manageable. My hope is that, over time, you may begin to feel a little more at ease within yourself, a little more steady in your relationships, and more trusting of your own inner voice.

A Personal Word for You

If you’re reaching out for support, I want you to know that it takes courage to even consider sharing your story. You don’t have to have the right words or have everything figured out. We can begin exactly where you are. My hope is to offer you a space that feels steady, safe, and deeply respectful of your experience, where you can move at your own pace and feel truly heard. You don’t have to carry it alone. ✨
